Camp Yakety Yak
Summer Camps
Good social skills are necessary to being a trusted friend, strong student
and successful employee. At Camp Yakety Yak, we teach children the
language of friendship by teaching social communication and emotional
regulation skills in small groups and practicing these skills in
collaborative projects and on field trips in the community. Each two-camp
session is designed for children with special needs affecting
social-emotional development such as cognitive & communication delays,
Autism Spectrum Disorder & ADHD , and is taught by a speech pathologist,
special educator and college/high school volunteers. We offer an AM
(9:00-12:00), PM (1:00-4:00) or Full-Day (9:00-4:00) camp for 9 days
(total of 27 hours of group speech therapy). The camp registration fee
includes specially-designed social skill instruction (approximately $12
per hour), daily snacks, supplies, camper t-shirt & commemorative DVD, and
field trip admission.
Siblings of campers and children just needing a "refresher" on appropriate
social skills are welcome for a reduced fee.
We have three camp sessions to choose from:
Session #1: Megabytes & More-Exploring Technology! June 27-July 8, 2011
(No camp July 4) held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Beaverton
