It's that time of year...
(Thanks to Sandra at
Kruger's Farm for the great
photo!)
Enjoy a trip
to the Oregon countryside. The farms listed below have been submitted
by our visitors as having family-friendly, wholesome fall fun.
Many of these places offer pumpkins, apples, corn, hayrides, hay or corn
mazes, animals and all the things little kids love. Call or check their
websites for directions, hours and more information on activities offered.
Most farms close for the season Oct. 31st - so don't wait!
When you go, don't forget: A Camera, Flashlights (for dark hay
mazes), Wipes, Towels, Boots, Change
of Clothes for Kiddos, Large Plastic Bags (for pumpkins, dirty clothes and
boots!)

"I
recently joined a home school group at Bauman Pumpkin Farm out of
Woodburn. I think this may be one of the best pumpkin places in the
Portland area.
It is very family friendly, the "harvesty" theme is not scary (I'm not big on
the evil/death
theme in many Halloweeny farms), and the people working are wonderfully
friendly! Bring a
flashlight for the very large, dark hay maze. Your kids may be lost
in there for over an hour (mine
were!)
In my panic to retrieve my kids from the maze, I learned the secret code
for getting out of the maze fast!
(If you plan on going to Bauman farms, bring a flashlight, and
email me for the secret code!) The cost for
all the fun was $6 per person
(which included a hayride, small pumpkin, gourd and Indian corn), which I
thought was spendy at first,
After the trip, the $6 seemed totally worth it! They have lots of covered
areas to get out the rain and eat lunch
or a snack. You could easily spend several hours here and my kids had a blast -
even while lost in the pitch black maze.

Casting my vote for French
Prairie Gardens Harvest Festival -
http://www.fpgardens.com/index.html
fantastic Saturday for the kids (and the adults) at the "Swines & Steins"
weekend - enjoyed the hay mazes, hay slides, petting zoo with it's creative
snacking options for the pygmy goats, pig and duck races, yummy snacks (and
brews and wine), and loads of room to run and play. surprised at the low
turnout - truly an event to experience this fall!!
